"Young man," Wu Bei's parents caught up to me, grabbing my arm. Wu Bei's father said, "Please, young man. Today we've been to all the hospitals in the county and the city, but the doctors couldn't find any problem. But Xiao Bei still hasn't woken up, and his vital signs are getting weaker. We only have one child, we can't lose him."
At this point, Wu Bei's father actually hugged me, somewhat like a rogue.
This action immediately drew a crowd, and students began to gather around.
"Is he in which class? This ungrateful thing has made his parents like this." The onlookers started to make comments, and my situation became increasingly awkward.
My heart sank, and I glanced at Wu Bei's father, my voice becoming cold. "I advise you to let go. You should understand that forcing me will only make me more averse. So, please let go."
At this point, Fat Dumpling also strode over aggressively, grabbing Wu Bei's father and sternly saying, "Don't understand? Let him go."
Fat Dumpling's sturdy build was no joke. When he stood in the crowd, he seemed like a human mountain. With Fat Dumpling's stern shout, Wu Bei's father quickly let go.
"Ah." At this moment, there was a gasp from the crowd. "They seem to be Wu Bei's parents."
"Wu Bei?" The exclamations from the crowd became louder. "Isn't Wu Bei always arrogant? Why are his parents so submissive in front of these two?"
I ignored these voices and, seeing that Wu Bei's parents had let go, I walked out of the crowd without turning back, leaving a group of shocked onlookers standing in place.
"So satisfying." Fat Dumpling followed me. "This time, Wu Bei's family really lost face. It's so satisfying."
Listening to Fat Dumpling, I silently looked back and saw that Wu Bei's parents had indeed not followed, still standing in place, glaring at us. I said in a low voice, "Satisfying? Satisfying comes with a price."
"Are you afraid?" Fat Dumpling pushed me and said, "I don't believe they still dare to cause trouble. If they do, big brother's got your back."
I couldn't help but give Fat Dumpling a stern look. "Oh, suddenly so brave, huh? You dare talk to me like that?"
"Um, that..." Fat Dumpling said embarrassedly, "I was wrong. You've got my back."
I couldn't be bothered, shaking my head. "Actually, it's not that I don't want to help them, it's just that Wu Bei really has no hope left."
"Of course I know." Fat Dumpling said, "Duan Mu, don't overthink it. It's his own fault, nothing to do with you."
"Okay." I nodded and walked straight into the cafeteria. After dinner, Fat Dun and I went straight back to the dormitory. Along the way, Fat Dun kept nagging, "Duan Mu, have you given up on Nie Wei's matter? Weren't we supposed to go after dinner? Why did we return to the dormitory?"
I glared at Fat Dun fiercely and found myself speechless. Currently, Nie Wei was in hiding and we were in the open. I had no idea where Nie Wei was, so I had no clue where to start. I sighed, couldn't be bothered with Fat Dun, and went straight back to the dormitory.
To our surprise, when we reached the dormitory door, it was open. Fat Dun and I both looked at each other in astonishment. We entered the dormitory and found a woman sitting inside.
"Oops," Fat Dun widened his eyes, "Did we go to the wrong dormitory?"
"No," I replied as I walked directly towards the woman, nonchalantly tossing my backpack onto the bed before curiously glancing at the woman.
The woman was sitting motionless on my bed. She wore tight jeans, with slim and long legs crossed. Her upper body was clad in a white t-shirt, showcasing a curvaceous figure. However, the way she crossed her arms in front of her chest completely ruined the aesthetics.
Next, I noticed the woman's face. Although she wasn't drop-dead gorgeous, she certainly didn't lose to Wang Qian and Wang Ying.
Normally, I should have been surprised by this scene. However, I was not surprised at all. I sat down next to her calmly and said, "Being a police officer is indeed impressive. You easily found my residence. But I wonder, what brings an officer to our dormitory?"
This woman was the female police officer who was the first to arrive at Nie Wei's grave-robbing hideout and Zhu Gui's death. Since she was a police officer and was in my dormitory, I was not surprised at all.
Unexpectedly, after I said that, the policewoman showed a hint of surprise, "Oh, it seems like you knew I would come. How did you know I was here with a purpose?"
I rolled my eyes helplessly, "What are you doing coming to my dorm for no reason? And sitting on my bed. Did you come to sleep with me or something?"
"You," the policewoman blushed slightly, but then smiled, "Alright, you guessed right. But you got one thing wrong. I didn't come to find you, I came to arrest you."
As she said this, the policewoman gave me a teasing look, and before I could react, my hands were already handcuffed by her cold, icy hands.
"Hmm?" I was slightly stunned but didn't resist.
Although we only exchanged a few words, the situation unfolded in just a few moments. At this point, Fat Dun also finally snapped out of his surprise and hurried over from the dormitory door, pointing at the policewoman, "Oh, I thought it was someone else, turns out it’s you."
The policewoman glanced at Fat Dun, and similarly with an ill-intentioned smile, she said, "Oh, I thought it was someone else, turns out it's you, this little chubby pig. What's the matter, are you anxious to see your friend being arrested? Don't worry, you're involved too."
As the policewoman finished speaking, there was a flash of light and in the next second, Fat Dun's hands were also handcuffed.
I have to say, this policewoman, although she looked delicate, was exceptionally skillful. With her skills alone, I was afraid that even if Fat Dun had been prepared, he wouldn't have been a match for her.
Fat Dun's eyes almost popped out of their sockets. According to Fat Dun's personality, he would definitely argue, but before he could even say anything, he was already restrained. Could he not be surprised?
Fat Dun finally couldn't help but roar, "You, what are you up to? Why are you cuffing us?"
"Hmm?" Upon hearing Fat Dun's words, the policewoman's face suddenly changed, "Little chubby pig, what did you just say?"
"I said, what are you up to, you--"
"Sister really hates it when people say I am old." Before Fat Dun could finish his sentence, he was punched in the nose and started bleeding.
I looked at the two of them speechlessly, "What’s all this fuss about? It's just wearing handcuffs. Where are we going? Hurry up."
"Hehe." The policewoman chuckled and looked at me, "It seems like you're quite self-aware. Alright, I'll get straight to the point. Did you go to the abandoned house last night?"
"Hmm?" I asked in confusion, "Where is the vacant house?"
The policewoman's smile faded, and she turned away from us, saying, "The vacant house is the house not far from the river that has been unoccupied for many years. You must have encountered three dogs there, right."
Upon hearing this, I finally realized. Was she referring to the place where Nei Wei led us with the soul-thrilling incense yesterday? Finally, I nodded, "Yes, we have been there."
The policewoman's expression became strange, she actually shook her head, "It seems that it is correct. A person just died in the vacant house during the time you were there yesterday. His name was Nei Wei."
