Chapter 16 Long Xiaohu
Jianyi smiled and set down her luggage, then pointed to the food (including the pile of sweet potatoes and pickled vegetables). Tong Tong immediately smiled, revealing her two rows of white teeth.
She didn't need to touch the items; as long as they were within five meters, she could use her mind to put them inside her "space."
Jianyi thought for a moment and packed two lightweight down bags for Tong Tong to put things into, just in case they needed them later. Originally, she wouldn't have brought such burdensome things, but now that they had a mobile warehouse, they naturally packed everything they could. After all, they could always throw away things they didn't need later.
So, when Zheng Lanxin finished packing her clothes and important items and walked out of the room, she found that many things in the room had disappeared into thin air, especially the precious food. It almost drove her crazy.
"Tong Tong has a storage space," Chen Junsheng explained in a timely manner, finally putting Zheng Lanxin's anxious heart at ease.
"Mom, don't mention it outside; it's dangerous for Tong Tong if people find out," Chen Junsheng whispered to his mother's ear.
Zheng Lanxin looked at Tong Tong's cute and chubby appearance, nodded, and squatted down in front of the little girl with a smile, saying, "Tong Tong, can Auntie put her clothes in your space?"
Tong Tong looked at Jianyi first, seeing that she didn't object, and nodded with a soft, gentle voice, "Okay."
Zheng Lanxin's heart almost melted when she saw Tong Tong's sparkling eyes. She handed the bag filled with clothes over, watched it disappear, and raised her eyebrows in surprise.
She took off the backpack she was carrying, which contained valuable items, a few pieces of jewelry, documents, and a bag of candy.
Zheng Lanxin gave Tong Tong two pieces of candy, and the sensible little girl said, "Thank you, Auntie," then took them back and handed them to Jianyi, looking at her expectantly, waiting for her to unwrap one for her.
The sweet milk candy relieved the fatigue from frequently using her abilities, and Tong Tong, holding the candy, was gently cradled in Zheng Lanxin's arms.
"Let's go," Jianyi said, looking at the deserted corridor through the peephole.
Chen Junsheng held a pot lid in his left hand and an ice pick in his right, nodded, and took the lead in opening the door and rushing out.
Following him was Jianyi, and lastly, a determined Zheng Lanxin, who was swallowing her fear with great effort.
"A click" sound came from the next door as their neighbor, the Wang family, opened their door, intending to discuss escaping together with Chen Junsheng and Jianyi's group. However, they could only watch helplessly as Zheng Lanxin rushed down with her children.
The speed was so fast that they only had time to shout "Hey," and the people had already disappeared in the corridor.
"What kind of people are they!" Liu Fen angrily cursed, "They just ran off without saying a word. We've been neighbors for over ten years. How can they be so heartless!"
Wang Hui also felt indignant, but now was clearly not the time to dwell on this matter.
"Stop yelling. Pack up quickly; we need to leave. Drive!" They couldn't stay here any longer; otherwise, they would starve to death before any rescue came.
Thinking of this, Wang Hui immediately called his younger brother to start packing. Seeing that Liu Fen was still scolding, he suddenly felt a surge of anger and yelled, "Hurry up and help your mom!"
Startled by the scolding, Liu Fen saw her husband's fierce gaze and hurriedly lowered her head, running to her mother-in-law's side to comfort her and help her up.
However, the elderly lady, seeing the closed door and hearing the screams from inside, remained firm and said, "I'm not leaving. I want to stay with your dad. You go on your own."
Liu Fen became anxious, and Wang Hui and his brother were furious. They couldn't believe that their mother would be so stubborn at a time like this.
Meanwhile, in the corridor, Jianyi's group had already reached the motorhome.
The zombies in the residential area were mostly elderly people, and their numbers weren't that high, around thirty or so. Their combat strength wasn't great either; they were just afraid of the unknown and acted out of fear.
Now that they saw Jianyi and Chen Junsheng, these two brave individuals, some people started coming down the stairs.
While Jianyi and Chen Junsheng protected Zheng Lanxin as she got into the car, suddenly, a loud shout of "Jianyi!" came from the neighboring unit.
What a death wish! Jianyi's expression turned cold immediately. She had a feeling that she knew who it was.
Zombies had poor eyesight but excellent hearing. With such a loud shout, were they trying to attract the nearby zombies to make everyone die together?
The person shouted again, and Jianyi pushed away an old man zombie that lunged at her. She dragged Chen Junsheng onto the car, closed the door, and quickly sat in the driver's seat, starting the motorhome.
"Jianyi!"
Seeing that the motorhome was starting, the people inside the car seemed not to have heard his call. Finally, the person in the passenger seat turned his head and looked at him, but that look was as cold as ice.
Suddenly, Long Xiaohu felt suffocated, as if the oxygen in the surroundings had been sucked away instantly, making his throat tighten, and he couldn't shout anymore.
"Xiaohu, get on the car quickly! They're leaving!" Zhao Na, Long Xiaohu's mother, called out anxiously from inside the car.
Thanks to Jianyi and her group attracting all the zombies away, the mother and son had the opportunity to get into their pickup truck parked in the central area of the neighborhood.
"Sis, they're catching up," Chen Junsheng said indifferently, his tone calm, but his deep black eyes exuded an eerie chill.
He didn't like this mother and son who had just joined them. He really didn't like them.
"Are they the mother and son from the Wang family? How come the dad isn't in the car? Could it be..." Suddenly remembering something, Zheng Lanxin clicked her tongue and showed a sympathetic expression.
Although Long Xiaohu used to bully Chen Junsheng because he was older when they were children, now that this kid had grown up, dropped out of junior high school, apprenticed himself to a master to learn auto repair, and opened his own auto repair shop after graduating, he was quite successful.
"Last month, Xiaohu fixed my electric bike. I tried to pay him, but he stuffed the money back, saying that he used to make trouble for you, so he wanted to make it up to me. He said that from now on, he won't charge our family for car repairs."
