Jian Yi was reborn.
Sitting in the classroom, she watched the spirited young students on the football field outside, a mocking smile curling the corners of her mouth.
Who would believe that in just three days, this tranquil world would turn into a hellish battleground?
The scene of her death flashed before Jian Yi's eyes again - a hideous and powerful beast pouncing at her while she was entwined helplessly in green vines around a cold stone pillar... Mo Xiaoxiao's doing. She must have been waiting for this day for a long time. After all, Jian Yi had once fed Mo Xiaoxiao's biological father to a similar beast.
But unfortunately, it took three years for Mo Xiaoxiao to learn the truth. Such a naive heroine, charmingly foolish.
Jian Yi propped her chin with one hand, seemingly looking out the window, but her gaze was unfocused, her thoughts elsewhere. She furrowed her brows slightly, looking a bit puzzled. A malicious supporting character...
“Heh,” Jian Yi scoffed softly, laughing at herself. Only when torn to pieces by the beast, at the very end of her life, did she realize she was just a villainess in a book.
But so what?
She had been reborn and life went on as usual. She would live it up as she pleased!
“Ding Ling Ling!”
The end-of-class bell rang, and Jian Yi, snapping back to reality, slowly packed her books and left the classroom.
“Yiyi!”
Mo Xiaoxiao, dressed in a blue and white school uniform and a high ponytail, chased after her, smiling, “Didn't we agree to go to the library together? Why didn't you wait for me?”
Jian Yi, as if just remembering her, stopped and turned back with an apologetic smile, “Xiaoxiao, I just remembered something I need to do at home. Let's make another plan next time, sorry.”
“It's okay, you're busy, go ahead,” Mo Xiaoxiao said, waving her hand indifferently.
But Jian Yi knew she must be very disappointed. In this school, Mo Xiaoxiao only had her as a friend. And she was the only one willing to associate with the illegitimate daughter of a wealthy businessman. Mo Xiaoxiao always had a lot of pocket money, and as her only friend, Jian Yi’s expenses at school were mostly covered by her.
Jian Yi touched her empty pocket and asked in a low voice, “Xiaoxiao, can you lend me another hundred yuan?”
“Huh?” Mo Xiaoxiao looked at her in surprise, “You've already spent the fifty yuan I gave you yesterday?”
Jian Yi didn't answer, but Mo Xiaoxiao had already pulled out a hundred yuan from her pretty pink wallet and handed it over.
“Here.” Mo Xiaoxiao’s eyes showed helplessness and sympathy.
She was a kind-hearted girl, Jian Yi knew very well, and so... Mo Xiaoxiao was really easy to deceive.
Jian Yi took the money, thanked her, and walked away without a hint of guilt. A villainess needs no such feelings.
She had already decided to spend fifty-eight yuan on a chocolate mousse cake at the corner bakery on East Street, sitting in front of the large window, watching the sunset.
With a smile on her lips, her shiny black hair cascaded in front of her. A breeze blew, scattering strands of her hair across her face. She raised her hand to tuck the unruly strands behind her ear, revealing her lovely, innocent face.
The boy following behind her was stunned; he rarely saw her smile like this.
Why was she smiling? Had she thought of something happy? What could make her so joyful?
He wanted to run up and ask, but then he remembered the impatience and disgust she showed whenever she saw him... The boy clenched his hand at his side, his pale fingertips digging into the palm of his hand, suppressing the pain in his heart.
The boy lowered his eyes, trying to calm his overly excited emotions, knowing that unleashing the beast in his heart would lead to unimaginable consequences.
“Chen Junsheng, come here!”
The girl stood under the traffic light, calling out to him.
Hearing her, the boy looked up in surprise and saw her smiling and waving at him.
Smiling? At him?
A flash of joy crossed Junsheng's face, quickly suppressed.
The green light turned yellow, and the cars on both sides started moving, but he didn't notice, running straight toward her.
The honking of car horns filled the street as Jian Yi watched the tall, thin boy run towards her, scolding irritably:
“Are you crazy? If you get hit by a car running a red light, no one will compensate me or your mom!”
The boy, not taking her vicious curse to heart, stood in front of her, slightly out of breath, his dark eyes filled with hope and a touch of eagerness, calling her “Sister.”
Jian Yi sneered, “Don't call me sister, I'm not your sister.”
Junsheng paused, the hope in his eyes fading. He lowered his eyelids, casting a shadow with his long, thick lashes, looking somewhat pitiful.
Jian Yi couldn’t stand his demeanor and was about to mock him, but she hesitated. The apocalypse was coming, and this boy her stepmother brought home seemed to have already awakened his powers. Maybe this time she wouldn't need to manipulate Mo Xiaoxiao to protect herself.
Jian Yi smiled and turned to the boy following her, “Chen Junsheng, do you really like calling me sister that much?”
The boy looked up, his eyes bright as stars.
Jian Yi raised an eyebrow, “Considering you're somewhat obedient, I'll give you a chance to prove yourself.”
“There!” She pointed to a milk tea shop ahead, “Go buy me a cup of milk tea right now, and then you can call me sister.”
Without hesitation, the boy ran to the shop, spending all his pocket money on her favorite black glutinous rice milk tea.
He nervously handed it to her, both hands trembling.
Jian Yi reached out to take it, her fingertips inadvertently brushing his, feeling his fingers tremble intensely under her teasing smile.
Junsheng looked up in shock, seeing her mocking smile, he quickly lowered his head, unable to hide the blush creeping up to his ears.
“Sister?” he tentatively called her sister.
Jian Yi: “Hmm.”
She responded!
Flowers bloomed in Junsheng's heart, bright and splendid.
Finally! He had gotten a bit closer to her!
Overjoyed, Junsheng clutched his chest, his heart aching with happiness.
What a fool, Jian Yi thought contemptuously. Just a little sweetness and he’s satisfied.
Did he really think she didn’t know what he was thinking?
Sipping her milk tea, Jian Yi thought about how to exploit her foolish brother’s feelings for her to ensure her survival in the upcoming apocalypse.
Lost in her thoughts, she was unaware of the intense gaze of the boy behind her, a gaze filled with extreme possessiveness, and the fervor and cruelty of a devout believer...
