Skipping stones was my strong point. I took the fist-sized stone handed to me by Du Xiaolan and threw it towards Bi Ping with full force.
My calculation was very accurate. After the stone drew an elegant arc on the water surface, it didn't hit him but landed straight on the boat.
The boat shook violently under the stone's impact, Bi Ping stumbled and quickly stabilized the small boat.
Seeing that the stone could hit him, I waved my hand and yelled his name again. Only then did he look over at us, but his brows were tightly furrowed, and after a while, he rubbed his forehead and rubbed his eyes in confusion.
"He can't see us?" Du Xiaolan looked at me in surprise.
This conclusion wasn't wrong. Bi Ping really couldn't see us. Normally, if someone is hit by a stone when rowing, they should come over to us and argue.
But from his attitude just now, he didn't see us at all, let alone know how these rocks fell on the boat.
If possible, I really want to jump into the reservoir and swim over there now. But the thought of that drowned ghost waiting for me in the water quickly dispelled that idea.
Taking a deep breath, I picked up a stone and threw it into the water, watching the ripples and saying, "He really can't see us, forget it, let's not think about it."
Du Xiaolan squatted on the ground, pulling at the stones with her hands, and said, "Mingyang, I think we shouldn't bother with this matter."
"What's wrong?" I asked in confusion.
Du Xiaolan shook her head and said, "I don't know, I just feel something is strange. We came here to arrange a ghost wedding for others, but you were inexplicably targeted by a drowned ghost."
What she said was indeed a problem. If I hadn't thrown a stone at the drowned ghost yesterday, he wouldn't have been able to come and scare me while I was taking a bath.
Taking a deep breath, I stretched and yawned, watching the boat of Bi Ping slowly moving forward on the reservoir. Just as I was about to turn and leave, Du Xiaolan suddenly pointed to the water and exclaimed, "Mingyang, the drowned ghost has appeared!"
I was shocked and quickly looked at the water, seeing the drowned ghost standing in the water, rapidly swimming towards Bi Ping.
Both of these guys had already turned into spirits, but what did it mean for this drowned ghost to swim towards Bi Ping?
In the next moment, I tightly gripped the two wooden stakes. Though Bi Ping couldn't see us, we needed Bi Ping for this arranged ghost wedding, and if he was tormented to death by the drowned ghost again, our job in this ghost wedding would be ruined.
I previously told Du Xiaolan that we could just pretend and fool around. But even though that's what I said, if I didn't complete my job satisfactorily, this matter would linger in my mind.
The drowned ghost's speed was very fast, completely different from the leisurely pace before.
In the blink of an eye, it had reached Bi Ping's boat. Just as it was about to emerge from the water, I realized something was wrong and quickly shouted, while grabbing a stone from the ground and fiercely throwing it at the drowned ghost.
Bi Ping on the boat clearly had no idea of the danger approaching him. He looked at us, scratched his head in confusion, and then slowly rowed forward.
The drowned ghost underwater turned its head, grinned at me, seemingly mocking that my warning was useless.
I don't know if it was provoked by it or if it was my impulsive nature, but I took off my clothes and leaped into the water. As I jumped in, I heard Du Xiaolan gasp.
I turned to see Du Xiaolan with her hands over her mouth, shouting at me, "Mingyang, are you trying to get yourself killed? Come back quickly!"
Ignoring her, with a threshold-made wooden stake in my hand, if that drowned ghost dared to harm me in the slightest, I would make sure it couldn't even become a ghost.
I quickly swam towards Bi Ping. The drowned ghost didn't dodge or attack Bi Ping, but kept a distance from Bi Ping's small boat.
When I reached Bi Ping, I resurfaced from the water, keeping an eye on the drowned ghost, and shouted at Bi Ping, "Leave this place quickly, a drowned ghost is eyeing you!"
Clearly, he couldn't see me or hear my voice and was staring at me all the time.
At this moment, with a distance of less than two meters, through his pupils, I saw only ripples on the water, and I didn't appear in his eyes at all.
"He really can't see!" This thought became more and more certain, and I quickly reached out and splashed some water at him.
Bi Ping was caught off guard and got splashed all over. Just as I was about to launch a second attack, the drowned ghost suddenly rushed towards me.
Du Xiaolan's exclamation came from the shore, just as the drowning ghost was about to rush towards me, I quickly raised a wooden spike over a meter long and aimed it at it.
This method seemed to really work, as the drowning ghost stopped abruptly when it saw the wooden spike, staring at me intently from a distance of two meters.
"Why are you trying to catch him?" I asked with a cold and unpleasant expression.
The drowning ghost emitted a strange laughter, "I want to kill him, if it weren't for him, I wouldn't have drowned in the river ten years ago!"
"That's your own fault. If you hadn't been stealing fish, you wouldn't have fallen into the river and drowned!" I sneered. Since it was afraid of the wooden spike I held, I had the upper hand.
"I steal fish?" The drowning ghost's face turned even greener, almost roaring, "You're saying I steal fish? Who told you that?"
"Everyone knows," I gloated, then looked at the drowning ghost and asked, "Aren't you the one who drowned in the reservoir while stealing fish?"
It didn't answer my question, but instead let out a desolate laughter, clenched its teeth, and said coldly, "I never thought I'd become a thief."
This dramatic turn of events left me momentarily speechless. The drowning ghost glanced coldly at me, then at Bi Ping, and said coldly, "Today I'll let that kid go, but tomorrow I'll wait for him here. No matter who you are, even if you've fled your body, I will personally kill him!"
Before I could respond, the drowning ghost swam towards the deep. Baffled, I looked at the boat that was about to row to the other side, then turned and swam to the shore.
After coming ashore, I wiped my face with my clothes. Du Xiaolan complained to me and asked if the drowning ghost had not harassed me in the water. I recounted the conversation with the drowning ghost to her. Du Xiaolan looked puzzled and said, "Did you feel that Mr. Bi seemed to have deceived us about many things?"
