Days went by without much notice until the day of the Gathering at Mount Huangshan arrived.
Xiaokai woke up early, keeping the Unwritten Divine Book close to him in his pocket. When he opened the door, he saw a bright flash of light coming from a distance, which soon stopped at the door.
"Uh... is that a girl?" Xiaokai thought to himself, but didn't say it out loud. Instead, he smiled and said, "Hello, how should I address you, beautiful lady?"
Indeed, the person arriving on the flying sword was a young girl, who appeared to be about fifteen or sixteen years old, with fair skin, big eyes filled with curiosity, excitement, and a hint of timidity. She was dressed in a light green dress, revealing her fair and slender legs. She timidly asked, "Excuse me... are you the leader of the Heaven's Chosen Sect?"
Xiaokai blushed at the unexpected question and awkwardly replied, "Just call me Xiaokai... don't call me by that leader title."
"Hehe," the young girl giggled, "You're quite talented to become a leader at such a young age. Well, you can call me Xiaolin. I'm here to take you on behalf of my master." With a sly twinkle in her dark eyes, she added, "I heard you can't fly yet?"
"Um... that's right," Xiaokai confessed awkwardly, "I've been focusing on cultivating inner strength..."
Xiaolin chuckled and didn't say much. With a wave of her hand, she commanded, "Rise." The shining long sword floated in the air, and she said, "Come on, Xiaokai, hop on."
Xiaokai felt a flutter in his heart after seeing Xiaolin, and thought to himself, "This girl would definitely be a troublemaker when she grows up." He then followed Xiaolin's lead, but his movements were clumsy, causing the sword to sink down. Startled, Xiaolin quickly stabilized the sword and gave Xiaokai a reproachful look, saying, "Xiaokai, why don't you use light body technique?"
"I... I don't know how," Xiaokai replied dejectedly, "I've told you before... my time has been spent on cultivating inner strength."
"But... but..." Xiaolin's face turned red, seeming to face a difficult situation. After thinking for a while, she bit her lip and said, "It's okay, let's just go."
Frustrated, Xiaolin was not pleased. She had only recently mastered the flight technique and had taken on this mission to impress her master. She didn't expect that the so-called leader she was tasked with bringing would have no knowledge of light body technique, making her own recently acquired flight technique insufficient to carry both herself and a person as heavy as Xiaokai.
The next moment, Xiaolin launched the sword high into the air, and the higher they flew, the colder Xiaokai felt, despite it being summer. The chill made him press closer to Xiaolin.
After flying for over ten minutes, Xiaokai managed to overcome his fear and open his eyes, taking in the surroundings.
"Hey, Xiao Lin, the road ahead is long and quite boring. Let's chat," Xiao Kai shook his head and said. "You tell me first, what exactly is the Gathering of Spirits for? I've never heard of it before."
Xiao Lin remained silent.
"Hey, don't be so cold. I admit I behaved poorly just now, too timid. I bet you look down on me, but, despite that, I am a guest of your Huangshan Sect. Just say something to me," Xiao Kai said earnestly. "After all, I am also the head of the Tianxuan Sect."
Still, Xiao Lin didn't reply.
"Tsk tsk, this isn't fair. Girls should be gentle and tolerant, that's how boys like them. By the way, I admit my mistake; I am indeed too timid. I would have fallen without holding onto you, even though I know it's not very dignified. Please forgive me," Xiao Kai said sincerely. "After all, life is precious."
Xiao Lin's body trembled slightly, with countless words in her heart. However, with the strong wind and her weakened energy, she couldn't say anything. She felt her ears heating up as Xiao Kai leaned closer and said, "Since you're so angry, let me tell you a joke."
