Regardless of whether Lin Meng agreed or not, she had to accompany her as her aunt had spoken. Originally, Lin Siting just wanted Lin Meng to come willingly, so it would look more like she was a little fan. Instead, she ended up stepping on a stone.
In any case, she didn't have to show a good face to Lin Meng. In the end, as Lin Siting's mover, Lin Meng went along with her. The party was at a place called Tianchi Yuefu. To be on the safe side, Lin Meng secretly asked Guo Bo, and he said that it was a wealthy area.
Lin Meng quickly realized that Lin Siting had a reason for dragging her along. There seemed to be someone at the party who had been pestering her, calling for her while surrounded by beautiful women.
Lin Sitian was not entirely comfortable but didn't want to ruin her goddess image. She responded coquettishly through her phone, her expression unconcerned.
Tianchi Yuefu was a villa area, and Nan Xu Mansion was one of the villas, magnificent and imposing. When they arrived, quite a few people had already gathered in the mansion, all men dressed stylishly and seemingly insiders.
Lin Sitian straightened her long skirt and made her entrance. Soon, someone called out "Goddess Tian” and she came out, surrounded by others.
"Who is this?"
"Brother Cong, she's my sister," Lin Sitian coquettishly smiled. "She's never seen this sort of thing before and insisted on following me, so I had to agree."
"So, you're Sitian's sister. That's why you're so beautiful. Come on in," Dai Cong greeted. "What do you want to drink? I’ll mix something up for you."
"I'll have a margarita," Lin Sitian smiled. "And Lemon?"
Lemon was carrying a large woven bag full of Lin Sitian's things and, looking exhausted, she plopped down on the sofa. "I'll have milk."
Dai Cong was taken aback.
Lin Sitian glared at her. "Is there no milk at home that you have to drink it here?"
"No? Then I won't drink it," Lemon said. "The doctor said I need more calcium, so I have to drink milk."
Lin Sitian wanted to kick her out, but she forced a smile at Dai Cong. "My sister is a bit naive, Brother Cong, you don't have to worry about her. Hey, did you watch the final BPL match?"
The discussion quickly became heated. Lemon felt like they were all outsiders looking for excitement. Then, someone behind her said, "No milk, how about some Yakult?"
Lemon turned around.
Sitting on the sofa behind her was a handsome guy in a trendy brand, with crossed legs, playing BOD on his phone.
It was the captain of the Yogurt team, Wildwind.
Lemon had seen the Yogurt team play. She liked Wildwind's play style and had just declined an invitation from the team. Declining again didn’t feel right.
"Yakult is also okay," Lemon said. "Where is it?"
"In my bag, get it yourself."
"I don’t want to go through someone else's bag."
"But I have no hands right now."
"No problem, I'll wait until you’re done," she said, lying on the sofa, watching Wildwind play the game earnestly.
Wildwind suddenly lost focus, couldn't help turning his head to look at Lemon, and then his character stopped, and he got shot in the head.
"Why didn't you dodge!" Lemon was anxious.
"Forget it, I'm just playing for fun," Wildwind said, covering his heated ears with his hand, putting the phone in his pocket, then got up to get his bag.
"Don’t you find it boring with nobody talking to you?" He handed the Yakult to Lemon.
"It's fine. Listening to them talking nonsense with a straight face is more boring," she finished the Yakult and said, "Otherwise, you wouldn't be bored enough to play games here."
Wildwind laughed. Just then, his phone rang.
Yumo: [Still bored? If you are, come to my house.]
Wildwind glanced at Lemon. [Thanks for your concern, but I'm not bored now.]
He put away his phone, turned over the sofa, and sat next to Lemon, about to say something, when a group of people suddenly called him to play cards, so he had to agree.
Lemon sat for a while, then got up and left.
The green space in the villa area was quite good. Lemon walked to the back of the villa complex and saw an ancient-looking wall surrounded by vibrant climbing vines, which stood out in this modern and luxurious area.
As dusk turned to night, the sky in the distance looked like an overturned palette, with lonely stars twinkling at the edges. Lemon, feeling impulsive, used both hands and feet to climb the wall's surface.
Lemon was clumsy, and it took some effort to climb up. Once up, the sky seemed suddenly much closer. Below her was the slightly cool tiles. She reached up to grab a handful of sky, but there were no stars, only a gentle, cool breeze in her hand.
How silly.
She laughed at herself, and at the same time, someone else laughed behind her.
"What are you doing?"
Lemon turned her head.
Warm yellow light shone from the traditional Chinese-style building, illuminating the outdoor furniture and redwood tables and chairs, with a towering cedar and a grape arbor, creating an elegant and harmonious setting. It didn't look like a museum.
Could it really be someone's home? How could anyone live in such a big house with a yard big enough to run horses?
The man who spoke was standing under the grape arbor, his hands crossed in front of his chest, wearing a loose black T-shirt and trousers, slender and gentle in temperament.
More than two years had passed, and he was still handsome.
Lemon squinted. "I'm stargazing. What's it to you?"
Yumo pointed. "You're sitting here, stargazing?"
Lin Meng's ears were slightly red, but her face maintained an impeccable indifference as she said, "Can't I sit here? Is this your home?"
Yu Mo blinked.
As the lights came on, he saw a girl sitting on the wall covered with green plants, her long hair flying, her fair skin glowing. She looked like an innocent and romantic elf, lost in her own foolishness.
It felt... strangely romantic and there was a sense of unexpected joy in it, if he didn't acknowledge this was his home.
Yu Mo raised his hand and said, "It's okay, you can sit." Then after a pause, he added, "But this indeed is my home."
Lin Meng: "..."
Yu Mo: "The indoor alarm in my house went off."
Lin Meng looked down and noticed Yu Mo was wearing a pair of slippers.
With a stern face, Lin Meng slowly moved one of her legs back out of the courtyard.
Yu Mo: "Hey—"
As a girl with self-esteem, Lin Meng was about to flee the moment she was exposed, but her physical ability couldn't keep up with her reflexes. If Yu Mo hadn't quickly grabbed her as she was about to fall face down in the path of the villa area, she probably would have made a human-shaped pit on the ground.
Lin Meng sat back on the wall, panic-stricken, as she held onto her chest.
The man's hand still firmly held her, and because of the force, a few blue veins protruded from his forearm. Lin Meng's gaze swept over and fixed on the inside of his wrist.
There was a long scar there, as well as a tattoo that seemed to serve as a cover-up.
There was a faint pain in her heart, and Lin Meng felt a moment of daze.
"Your hair has grown, and you've gotten taller," Yu Mo reached out and touched her head with his other hand, speaking gently. "You haven't changed much, Lin Meng."
"I haven't had plastic surgery, so of course I haven't changed," Lin Meng said firmly. "You, on the other hand, have changed a lot, Captain."
Those two words stung like ash.
Moonlight spilled onto the wall, mingling with the distant light to create an ambiguous shadow, giving Lin Meng's face a more dreamy appearance. Yu Mo was taken aback and asked, "Really? How have I changed?"
"You've gotten older," Lin Meng retorted, rolling her eyes. "And you've also become more foolish."
Yu Mo smiled. "The one who nearly killed me several times is truly you."
"So what?" Lin Meng gave him a cold glance. "Do you want revenge?"
Yu Mo shook his head. "I'm just glad you're happy."
Lin Meng was slightly taken aback, a hidden tenderness in her heart seemed to have been grabbed by someone, and she fiercely suppressed it.
"I..."
Yu Mo couldn't help but reach out and touch her head, "Is your anger gone now? If it is, will you come to join the professional team E?"
Lin Meng: "..."
The glint of rage in her eyes dissipated completely, replaced by a sharp chilling light.
"Are you doing all this just to make me join team E?" Lin Meng questioned.
Yu Mo didn't doubt himself, "What else would it be?"
Lin Meng remained silent.
Yu Mo said seriously, "The current esports environment is more comfortable than before. With me in team E, your path is paved. You don't have to worry about anything."
"I won't play professionally," Lin Meng cut him off abruptly, her tone cold. "Momo, even though my entry into this field is related to you, the decision ultimately was mine. You don't need to feel any obligation as my mentor. I just don't want to play, that's all."
Yu Mo was somewhat surprised, seemed like he wanted to say something, but Lin Meng didn't give him the chance. She pushed off the wall and jumped down, saying, "I have something to do and I need to leave." Her feet hurt when she landed, and she limped a bit. She didn't look back.
Yu Mo was taken aback, and for some reason, his wrist throbbed slightly. Just then, his phone vibrated, and it was Wind sending a message: [Image]
Wind: [Isn't the miss beautiful, the one I met tonight, and she's also a fan of our team]
Wind: [I have what you don't have, are you jealous?]
Yu Mo smiled wryly. He thought, I'm jealous of what? This cabbage was planted by me myself. But considering Lin Meng's attitude, he didn't have the confidence to say that to Wind. Instead, he turned to call Zhong Xiang.
"I don't know why you're still fixated on that little agent," Zhong Xiang was directing a base cleanup, and was arguing loudly. "Even if she comes, there's no position for her. We don't lack damage dealers. Should I make her look at the water cooler?"
"He's an all-rounder," Yu Mo said.
"Just because she can use skills, doesn't make her an all-rounder," Zhong Xiang replied. "Panda can still heal up to the sixteenth phase, are you going to let Panda heal?"
There came a roar from Panda, "Why can't I heal! I'm an E cup!"
"She's different from Panda, she started as a logistic officer, and she's as good at support as she is at sniping," Yu Mo explained.
Zhong Xiang was exasperated, "Silence, are you under a spell? What is your relationship with her that you're so inflexible?"
Yumo paused for a moment, looking down at the cold green branches on the wall.
"She was my substitute at Kars," Yumo said.
Yumo, the East Asian Vinegar King, replied, "They are the cabbages I personally planted."
Lin, the Widow of Darkness, Lemon, said, "No need to ask, the answer is I don't want to see you."
Oh, ho ho ho ho.
